A 49-year-old Ottawa man is facing child pornography charges after he was allegedly caught viewing child abuse images on his laptop in a vehicle parked in Ottawa's west end.

Police say they were called after someone observed the man sitting in his vehicle using his laptop in the Merivale Road area on Monday. Police say the witness thought it was unusual and reported the suspicious activity to police.

When officers responded to the scene, police allegedly found child abuse images on the computer. Police seized the computer and other digital media as a result.

Harold Coxhead was arrested and charged with possessing and accessing child pornography. He is also charged with three counts of breach of probation. Coxhead appeared in court on Tuesday.
