A well-known Ottawa ma�tre d' has pleaded guilty to two charges connected to a cocaine smuggling ring.

Nino Pollastrini was one of 51 suspects arrested last fall during a sweep in Ontario and Quebec.

He pleaded guilty Tuesday to possessing money obtained by crime and committing a crime to benefit a criminal organization. He was sentenced to two years in jail.

Pollastrini is familiar to patrons of Giovanni's Restaurant on Preston Street. Giovanni's is not connected in any way to the case.
