A 25-storey east Ottawa building was emptied by a third-floor fire Thursday evening.
Ottawa fire crews said they got a fire alarm report from 515 St. Laurent Boulevard just before 5:45 p.m.
When they arrived, they said a resident told them about smoke visible on the third floor, a fact crews confirmed when they found fire in room 324.
Everyone inside the building was temporarily evacuated but nobody was displaced, as the man who was moving out of the affected unit is now staying in his new room.
There was an estimated $100,000 damage caused to the building and $25,000 damage to its contents.
