Ottawa's Medical Officer of Health released the name of the clinic and procedure which has put 6,800 people at potential risk of contracting HIV, Hepatitis B and C.

Public Health officials say the private clinic was run by Dr. Christiane Farazli and is located at 1081 Carling Ave., suite 606.

The procedure: Endoscopic (gastro and colonoscopy)

Time period: between April 2002 and June 2011

Hotline: 613-580-2888 (staffed by nurses)

Letters were sent out by registered mail to those who may have been exposed.

Dr. Isra Levy says the risk of infection is extremely low:

  • chances of getting Hepatits B is one in a million
  • chances of getting Hepatitis C is one in 50 million
  • chances of getting HIV is one in 3 billion

There is no evidence to suggest anyone has been infected.
