Hundreds of court cases have been put on hold after the Ottawa courthouse on Elgin St. was shut-down.

The building was evacuated this morning after a water supply line leading into the courthouse failed.

There is concern the lack of water would pose a safety issue.  Crews are working to repair the damage.

As a result of the water pipe failure, the high-profile sexual assault trial of Ottawa Police Sgt. Steven Desjourdy has been delayed.

The case is centered on the widely publicized Ottawa police cellblock video that raised questions about Desjourdy's conduct.

The trial has now been put off until Thursday.

The courthouse is expected to reopen tomorrow.
