A couple from the Casselman area has been killed in a motorcycle crash in New York State Thursday near the Canadian border.

The Associated Press is reporting that State police say 60-year-old Jacques Patenaude and his 55-year-old wife Linda were travelling on his Harley-Davidson north on state Route 37 around 10:30 a.m. Thursday. That's when it crashed into the back of a Jeep Grand Cherokee that had stopped to make a left turn at an intersection in the town of Malone, near the Canadian border in Franklin County.

Police say Patenaude and 55-year-old wife, Linda, were both pronounced dead at the scene by the county coroner.

The 53-year-old male Jeep driver was taken to hospital to be evaluated. The extent of his injuries are not clear.

The Patenaudes owned Patenaude Martial Arts with locations throughout the Eastern Ontario region.

In a Facebook post, their son Stephane said, “it is with a very heart that I announce the passing of our loving and amazing parents today in a motorcycle accident. They loved life, lived their lives to the fullest and touched so many along the way. We love you mom + pop and you will live on forever.”
