Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a fatal crash that killed three people and injured nine others on Highway 60 in Algonquin Park near the Huntsville entrance.

Police responded to the head-on collision near Finlayson Township on Tuesday afternoon.

OPP say their initial investigation reveals the driver of a westbound SUV lost control, causing his vehicle to cross the centre line into the path of an oncoming van.

The 61-year-old driver of the SUV, who is from Richmond Hill, died of his injuries. Two of his female passengers, a 20-year-old and a 19-year-old, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem on the driver is scheduled for Wednesday. Police say no charges are pending.
