MISSISSAUGA - An eastern Ontario provincial police officer has been cleared of criminal wrongdoing in a July crash that claimed a woman's life.

The Special Investigations Unit says Judith Fleury of Williamsburg was driving north on County Road 31 early on July 31 near Morrisburg when she turned left in front of a police SUV that was passing her.

The report states the officer had his emergency lights on as he was in pursuit of an alleged drunk driver at the time of the crash.

Fleury, 52, was killed and two of her three passengers sustained serious injuries.

The officer involved suffered minor head injuries.

The report says while the officer was speeding, it was allowable because he was answering a call and because his lights were on he could have reasonably thought Fleury would have seen him.
