Ontario provincial police are investigating after an SUV left the road, entered a ditch and struck a hydro pole, killing one person in Lanark County over the weekend.

The crash on County Road 10 was discovered by a passing motorist at about 2:15 p.m. on Sunday.

Police say the 78-year-old driver of the SUV was extricated from his vehicle and transported to Kingston Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, passenger Pamela Langley, 77, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both victims are from Marmora, Ont.
