Provincial police have identified a 21-year-old man killed in a single vehicle collision near Napanee over the weekend.

Police say William Harry Foley of the greater Napanee area was killed when his vehicle left the road and struck a tree south of the eastern Ontario city on Saturday morning.

Foley, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say they believe excessive speed played a role in the crash.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday in Kingston.
