The Province of Ontario is placing a bet on online gaming.

OLG is inviting 53,000 members of its Winners Circle Rewards program to try out its new gaming website PlayOLG.ca and offer their feedback on the experience.

The site will have a phased launch starting in a couple of weeks, offering various interactive online games including slots, single-player poker and roulette. People can also purchase LOTTO tickets on the website.

OLG claims that Ontarians spend up to $500 million a year on online gaming sites. It hopes PlayOLG.ca will deliver $375 million back into the provincial coffers within the first five years.

“As a new line of business, PlayOLG will provide more money to the Government of Ontario for hospitals and other government priorities,” it states on a press release.

The lottery and gambling commission is also touting better security and responsible gaming features like mandatory weekly deposit limits, cool down periods and the collection of player profiles and user habits.

Ontario is joining other Canadian provinces like British Columbia, Manitoba and Quebec who have already launched similar websites.

OLG says more games will be offered in the future including peer-to-peer Poker, Bingo and sports betting.
