Beth Graham will run as a Conservative in the Ontario by-elections on March 4th.

Graham got the go-ahead Friday night from the Ottawa-West Nepean riding association. She beat out Mike Patten and will take on Liberal Candidate and former Ottawa mayor, Bob Chiarelli, for the seat in provincial parliament.

Graham attacked the McGuinty government at the nomination meeting.

"The new HSST – that's what I call it – the new harmonized sales and service tax will solve nothing for our ordinary people," said Graham. "It will simply add to the financial burden of people in our riding."

The 55-year-old has lived in the riding more than two decades. She has experience in both the public and private realms; managing constituency affairs for Lisa MacLeod, MPP for Nepean-Carleton for about three years, and starting her working career at IBM.

The riding's seat was left empty after Liberal MPP, Jim Watson, resigned in order to run for Mayor of Ottawa this fall.
