One person is dead following a major fire in Bells Corners on Thursday.

Ottawa firefighters found the body Thursday afternoon, after spending several hours batting a 3rd alarm fire at a row house complex at the corner of Moodie Dr. and Hadley Circle.

They were called there just before 11 a.m.

Black smoke filled the sky over the complex and engulfed both floors of the unit.

Firefighters attacked the flames from outside after being ordered to evacuate the building.

Moodie Dr. was closed south of Robertson Rd. due to the fire.

The victim's identity has not been released. The victim's gender or age have not yet been determined.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. The Ottawa Police Arson Unit is investigating, along with the Fire Marshall.
