A lone driver lost control on Colonel By Drive next to the canal on Sunday, police say, and flipped over the barricade to crash on the ice. The female was trapped inside for almost an hour, but escaped with minor injuries.
Police received a call around 8:40 a.m. and emergency workers spent the next hour working to free the woman inside.
Colonel By was closed between the Bank Street Bridge and Clegg Street Sunday morning as an investigation continued, but re-opened by 10 a.m.
No skaters were reported injured in the incident.
