One dead in two-vehicle crash in Upper Ottawa Valley

One person is dead after a two-vehicle collision involving a transport truck and a car on Highway 17 in the Upper Ottawa Valley.

Ontario Provincial Police say the crash happened just west of Turcotte Road in Whitewater Region, near Cobden, late Thursday morning.

Police say the car was heading westbound with it collided with a transport truck. The driver of the car died at the scene. The driver of the transport truck was not injured.

The highway remained closed early Thursday evening. Detours are in place. Police say their investigation is ongoing.
