A man is dead after a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 7 near Maberly, Ont., an hour west of Ottawa.

Fifty-eight-year-old Douglas George Aldridge from Pennsylvania was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Aldridge's eastbound 2004 Hyundai drifted across the centre line in the moments leading up to the fatal crash.

Police say a westbound tractor trailer driven by a 52-year-old Mississippi Mills man, rounded a bend when he saw the Hyundai in his lane.

Although both drivers swerved to avoid a crash, the vehicles collided.

The big rig's unit slid at a 45 degree angle across the highway and also collided with an eastbound 2008 Ford F150 pick-up truck, which was driven by a 67-year-old man.

The driver of the semi was transported to Kingston General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pick-up escaped the collision uninjured.

Police remain on the scene and their investigation is ongoing.
