PETERBOROUGH, Ont. -- An 82-year-old Peterborough woman is facing a careless driving charge after police pulled over a vehicle going the wrong way on Highway 115.

Provincial police spotted a northbound car travelling slowly in the southbound lanes of the highway near the detachment office in Peterborough on Wednesday afternoon.

When officers stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Highway 7 and Highway 115, the driver didn't put the car in park, and it rolled forward, striking a police cruiser.

An officer suffered minor injuries while avoiding being struck by the vehicle, and there was some damage to the cruiser.
