An Ottawa police officer has been slapped with stunt driving charges after he was clocked doing more than 200 km/h on Highway 174 while off-duty Tuesday afternoon.

He was caught on his motorcycle after speeding by officers who were conducting radar options on the eastbound highway near Tenth Line Road.

Const. Yannik Bernard has been charged with stunt driving under the Highway Traffic Act. His motorcycle was impounded and his rider's license was suspended for seven days.

If convicted, Bernard could face fines of up to $2,000. He has been reassigned to administrative duties.
