OC Transpo is facing a $5,000 fine for failing to announce major and requested stops on all of its bus routes.

In 2007, OC Transpo was ordered to call out stops after the Canadian Transportation Agency found that failing to call out bus stops created hurdles for many riders with disabilities, especially those with vision impairments.

A summer investigation, however, revealed OC Transpo drivers still failed to call out all major and requested bus stops.

This is not the first time OC Transpo drivers have been found breaking the rule. Late last year, OC Transpo was given a warning for not complying with the 2007 ruling.

There are currently plans in the works to implement an automated system for OC Transpo buses.

Meantime, the agency says it will continue to monitor OC Transpo to make sure drivers adhere to the ruling.
