Ottawa police are investigating after a 21-year-old man was taken to hospital showing no signs of life Wednesday afternoon.

Police tape continued to surround a home on Fernleaf Crescent hours after emergency services first responded at 1:30 in the afternoon.

Half a dozen police are on standby at the home as neighbours react to news of what may have taken place.

Neighbours tell CTV a federal public service worker lives at the home with his adult son.  They say they believe the man may be out of the country.

Neighbours also tell CTV police have responded to the home before and that noise and loud parties are a common occurrence.

One neighbour reports hearing a loud bang just before 1 p.m.

So far, police have not reported having a suspect in custody.
