A student was arrested after brandishing a knife inside a high school in the west-end.

Police say they were called over the lunch hour to Arnprior and District High School after a student became “agitated” and pulled a knife in the hallway.

The school went into hold and secure mode while the student was isolated.

Two neighbouring schools - Walter Zadow Public School and St. Joseph's Separate School - were also placed into secure mode.

The school board says police have not yet determined whether the student in question will be charged or if the incident falls under conditions in the Mental Health Act.

The security measure was in place for about half an hour.

No injuries were reported.
