Police in La Pêche are investigating after a man in his 50s was found brutally attacked inside his home Friday night.

MRC Des Collines de l’Outaouais responded to a home invasion call at a residence on chemin Victor Robert around 10:20 p.m.

Police said the man was taken to hospital in serious condition.

Saturday morning Police tape cordoned off the entrance to Domaine Des Bon Vivants, a campsite at the end of the road.

Peter Middlestead owns a cottage just outside the campsite. He said not many people come to the area in the winter time.

“I’m surprised because at this time of the year nobody is around… except for the owner of the camping ground,” said Middlestead.

Police were seen investigating a home inside the campsite Saturday afternoon. Middlestead said it belongs to the owner of the campsite. The canine unit was also on scene searching the campgrounds.

Police have not said a motive for the attack or whether anything was stolen.

The suspect remains at large.
