Ottawa Police have charged a suspect in connection to five recent bank robberies.

Gregory Targett, of Ottawa, is charged with 5 counts of robbery and 5 counts of wearing a disguise. The 27 year old man was arrested by Toronto Police on a matter within their jurisdiction.

He was held in court in Toronto and will appear again next in Toronto on December 17, 2015.

Police say between November 19, 2015 and November 26, 2015, a lone suspect is said to have committed a series of five bank robberies across Ottawa:

  • 400 block of Rideau Steeet on November 19, 2015 at 3:40 pm
  • 400 block of Preston Street on November 20, 2015 at 5:25 pm
  • 2100 block of Carling Avenue on November 25, 2015 at 5:00 pm
  • 1600 block of Montreal Road on November 26, 2015 at11:50 am
  • 1-100 block of Bank Street on November 26, 2015 at 4:45 pm

In all cases, a lone male suspect entered the bank, approached a bank employee and produced a note making a demand for money. The suspect indicated he had a handgun, though none was ever seen. The suspect fled with undisclosed quantities of cash in each case. There were no injuries in any of the robberies.
