Ottawa's new congress centre is set to look like a large glass tulip laid on its side, according to the winning design submitted by PCL Construction.

Ottawa architects Brisbin-Brook-Beynon will be in charge of designing the $170 million conference centre in Ottawa's downtown core.

Construction on the new building, which will be three times the size of the current centre, is scheduled to begin next spring. Crews will begin demolishing the existing centre later this month.
