A new on-ramp connecting Scotiabank Place to the Queensway is expected to help people get home faster from hockey games and concerts at the arena.

Buses will be given priority to use the on-ramp, followed by high-occupancy vehicles with two people or more.

The new ramp will mean faster access to the Queensway for bus passengers and carpoolers, saving people an estimated 16 minutes in travel time.

There will also be a new OC Transpo park and ride at the site.

Construction on the project will begin this fall, and is expected to be complete by 2013.

The provincial government will kick in $500,000 to build the highway on-ramp, while the Ottawa Senators are donating the land.
