The border crossing at Lansdowne, Ontario is getting a $60 million dollar facelift.

A new facility and five more lanes will be added at the Thousand Islands Bridge Crossing.

It will continue to operate 24 hours a day, seven days per week.

The announcement was made today by Conservative MP  Leeds-Grenville Gord Brown.

More than 800 thousand passengers  vehicles crossed at Lansdowne in 2012.

Thousands Islands is a popular border crossing for Ottawa residents who plan shopping excursions to Syracuse, New York and points further south.
