More than four years of labour tension between the City of Gatineau and its police service is over.

Wednesday marked the first collective agreement signed by the Gatineau Police since 2006.

Union members voted in favour of a recent deal which includes an annual pay increase of 2.5 per cent.

The new agreement is putting an end to the turbulent dispute.

In recent years, it's been alleged officers had vandalized their own squad cars and replaced issued uniforms with cargo pants and ball caps in protest.
