The National Capital Commission revealed the contenders who are in the running to develop LeBreton Flats Wednesday.
In September, the NCC asked for outside ideas to bring 9.3 hectares of land to life.
Five groups submitted proposals but only four will continue.
RendezVous LeBreton Group, which includes the Ottawa Senators, proposes a major event centre for sports and entertainment in addition to green spaces and residential and commercial developments.
Claridge Homes is proposing indoor and outdoor concert facilities, cultural enterprises and residential and commercial developments
Devcore Group from Gatineau is proposing that too, plus cultural institutions developed around a grande alle and green spaces.
It has reportedly teamed up with mega Montreal builder Broccolini.
Focus equities proposes housing the headquarters of an international organization and cultural venues.
The groups will now receive $75,000 dollars to prepare a design proposal and financial plan due to the NCC in November.
The winning proposal is expected to be announced in mid-2016.
The NCC has said there must be a “signature attraction” on the land.
