A man accused of stabbing a street person to death goes to trial next week.

Twenty-one-year-old Steven Beriault, nicknamed "Cactus," died from stab wounds to his chest and neck in June 2006.

The fatal stabbing took place in the underpass near Rideau Street and Sussex Drive.

Ricky Roger Hankey is charged with second-degree murder in Beriault's death.

Jury selection for his trial is scheduled to begin March 4. The trial is expected to last up to four weeks.
