Ottawa Community Housing is stepping up security near the Sandy Hill housing complex where one of their clients was killed on Tuesday.
Still, the head of the agency says security is improving at its housing complexes.
"That community is not problematic," said CEO Jo-Anne Poirier.
Larry Chartier, a disabled senior citizen, was found dead in his community housing unit on Chapel Crescent early Tuesday morning.
Chartier, who was bound to a wheelchair, was apparently beaten to death. His body was discovered in the bedroom of his apartment.
Chartier lived alone and neighbours say he was recently separated from his wife, who lives in Montreal. They also say he's had run-ins with police in the past.
So far, no arrests have been made. Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to contact Ottawa police or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-TIPS.
