Ontario Provincial Police have laid a first degree murder charge against 25-year-old Brian David Goddard after a Petawawa man was found dead in a home Friday.

Police say Goddard is of “no fixed address” and faces the first-degree murder charge as well as two counts of attempted murder.

The 9-1-1 call came in at 10:52 Friday morning. When emergency crews arrived at the home on East Street, they found 56-year-old Danny Petersma dead at the scene.

Paramedics had confirmed with CTV multiple victims early Friday afternoon. Police say a 55-year-old woman and a teenaged girl, 17, were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

At first, Friday’s incident quickly turned into a massive manhunt. Police helicopters scoured the area from the air while the canine unit investigated from the ground. Goddard was arrested after a 2.5 hour search.

OPP and military police are jointly investigating.
