Multiple shots fired at home in Westboro
It was a startling wakeup call for a resident in Westboro after multiple shots were fired through the front window of their home on Selby Ave.
Ottawa Police said they responded to a call for a shooting around midnight in the 300 block of Selby Ave.
When they arrived they found multiple bullet holes in the front of the home, as well as several spent shell casings in the laneway of the residence.
Police said they were called to the scene by a resident in the home who heard glass breaking.
“The call was initiated by the homeowner who was sleeping at the time, and was awoken by the sounds and called 911. He was not injured though,” said Duty Insp. Sean McDade.
Tim Shaw lives across the street. He said he could see several officers searching outside his neighbours home.
“We realized there were flashlights on the house opposite us,” Shaw said. “I think there were a couple of police cars blocking the street and then there were a lot of vehicles surveilling the area.”
In a tweet Councillor Jeff Leiper wrote: “Reading about the shots fired last night on Selby. Have reached out to residents and police to see what more info is available."
Duty Insp. McDade said there are no suspects at this time and the Guns and Gangs Unit is currently investigating.
