The family of an eastern Ontario Mountie is in the Yukon to desperately search for their son who went missing when his police boat capsized earlier this week.

Const. Michael Potvin's boat went under on the Stewart River, just north of Whitehorse, Tuesday evening. Potvin, 26, was reportedly not wearing a lifejacket.

Although RCMP divers have scoured the river for days, they remain hopeful Potvin will be found alive.

Potvin joined the RCMP one year ago. His family is in the Yukon to support his pregnant wife. The couple is expecting their first child.
