Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the cause of a crash that killed a 24-year-old motorcyclist and critically injured the driver of a minivan in Russell Township on Tuesday.

Police say the motorcycle collided with the minivan at the intersection of St. Pierre Road and Route 200 at about 4 p.m.

The motorcycle operator, Alexandre Forgues, of Embrun, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 56-year-old driver of the minivan, who is also from Embrun, was rushed to hospital in Ottawa with critical injuries. The victim's name has not been released.

Police say an adult passenger in the minivan is also being treated for not life-threatening injuries.

Russell Township is located about 40 kilometres southeast of Ottawa.
