A 43-year-old Toronto woman and one of her daughters have died after a possible drowning at a hotel swimming pool in Gananoque.

Naila Yasmin succumbed to her injuries at Kingston General Hospital on Sunday, according to the OPP. One of her daughters died in hospital Monday afternoon.

Another daughter remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

Few details have been made available about the Saturday incident at the indoor pool of Best Western Country Squire Resort at 715 King St. E.

"Our understanding is these three people were non-swimmers, last seen by other people staying in the hotel, with two younger girls in the shallow end with the mother supervising, standing outside the water," said Kai Liu, chief of the Gananoque Police Service.

Yasmin and her daughters had no vital signs when paramedics and other emergency crews arrived at the swimming pool. They performed CPR on the family for nearly 30 minutes before the trio was taken to Kingston, 30 kilometres west of the city.

They were part of a family of six guests staying at the Best Western hotel. Yasmin's husband and two sons were eating breakfast inside the hotel at the time of the incident.

Foul play is not suspected. However, police are continuing their investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Gananoque police at 613-382-4422.
