A 17 year old is in critical condition after a vehicle struck a light standard in Ottawa's West end.

Paramedics say a male passenger was transported to hospital after the vehicle he was in crashed into a light standard on Longfields Drive at Champman Mills around 10:30 p.m.. Paramedics say the teenager was unconscious when they first arrived.

Two other individuals, both 17 year olds, were treated for injuries related to the crash. One suffered upper body injuries, the other suffered head injuries. Paramedics say both are in stable condition in hospital.

Ottawa Fire says two people, both male, were extricated from the vehicle. They say the roof of the vehicle had to be removed to get the people out.

Longfields drive is currently closed in both directions at Chapman Mills. Police are asking motorists to avoid the area.
