It was a final chance to say goodbye on Friday to two young men at Bethel Pentacostal -- their lives cut short after a collision on Saturday: Jonathan "Joey" Jackson, 18, and 17-year-old David Stringer.
Their car crashed near the Rideau Carleton Raceway last weekend, also leaving four seniors injured in the collision.
Michael Foss was best friends with both Jonathan and David.
"I'm proud that people would mix me up for David," Foss said. "I'm going to miss him a lot. I love the guy."
"Growing up together at camp from such a young age, we became almost like brothers," added friend Chris Shaver. "The four of us would always be seen together."
'Friends and family are so important'
At Jonathan's funeral, his humour, kindness and athletic ability were fondly remembered, and his brother was thankful for the closer relationship they recently shared.
"Family and friends are so important, and I'm so glad we were able to make that change," said Andrew Jackson.
His sister missed Jonathan's zest for life.
"Joe," said Jenny Lavoie, "you showed me how to live life, how to really live every moment God gives you as if it could be your last. And I loved your heart for people. You were such a gentle guy."
At David's funeral, his sister Christina sang to mourners with the reality that he was gone.
"You know in two weeks when the food stops coming and the people stop coming, David's still not coming home."
