On behalf of Louise, Victoria, Eric and the entire Duffy family we would like to extend our most sincere and heartfelt sympathies to the family of Karen Thompson. The tragic accident of Wednesday morning has created for her family and ours a loss that would be unimaginable if it were not true. Our prayers are with her parents and siblings,  her husband Gregory and their children Mallory, Miranda, Lucas and Liam.  Their lives, as ours, have been changed forever.

We wish to thank the members of the OPP and the County of Frontenac Paramedic Service for their diligent and professional handling of this tragic incident and its aftermath. We would also like to thank the staff of CHEO for the caring treatment they have provided Eric who, we are relieved to announce, will make a full recovery.

Our wishes for a speedy and complete recovery go out to Steve Hambling, a sportsman, entrepreneur and friend. We hope that the snow stays long enough to see you on skis again this year.

Finally we would like to thank our coworkers, classmates, team mates and friends for their outpouring of support and condolences. Our family has lost two very special people in Thomas and his father David and we know this loss is felt equally across many communities within our broader community.  Arrangements have been finalized to celebrate the lives of David and Thomas and have been published in the Ottawa Citizen  In recognition of the sport that David and Thomas shared we would ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association.
