A world-renowned architect has teamed up with an eco-conscious company in California to create a new kind of high-tech home.
With a little plumbing and electrical and lots of high-tech bells and whistles, developers hope it will strike the perfect balance between green living, high technology and design.
"It's an architectural masterpiece. It's by one of the premiere architects in California's history, from Ray Kappe," said Phillip Beron, the owner of the new pre-fabricated eco home.
"I didn't realize that a third of all landfills are filled with construction waste. And a lot of that is because as you bring in material close to the site, and you cut and you measure, you throw everything else away. When it's done in a factory, there's significantly less waste," Beron said.
The home is the second green living project for architect Ray Kappe and Living Homes CEO and founder Steve Glen. The first was built last year in Santa Monica. The 25-square-foot modern home took just one day to assemble.
"We're really talking about, I think, trying to reduce cost and reduce time. So that's where we're going. These can be built in shorter amounts of time," said Kappe.
