Ottawa police are looking for two black men in connection with a robbery that sent a woman to hospital with multiple skull fractures after she tried to close an online deal for an expensive piece of jewelry.
Police said Natalie Galipeau, a 31-year-old mother of two, has identified the assailants as two black males in their early 20s.
Galipeau was injured after arranging to meet a potential buyer at her home in Orleans, regarding a sapphire and diamond bracelet she was selling on usedottawa.com. The bracelet is valued at $2,520 and was being sold for $1,250.
Galipeau said the men fled the scene in a full-size, dark-coloured vehicle. Police said she was somehow either dragged or struck by that vehicle.
The passenger of the car is described as about six feet tall with a muscular build. He was wearing a basketball jersey at the time of the incident.
Although police were originally searching for a light-coloured sports car, they now say that is an incorrect description of the vehicle involved.
Police said Galipeau is expected to make a full recovery from her injuries.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Ottawa police at 613-236-1222, ext. 5116 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-TIPS.
