Ottawa police met with residents of Stittsville Thursday night to reaffirm their call for help from the community as police continue to hunt for those behind the acts of arson and vandalism that have plagued the community in recent months.

Three newly-built homes in Stittsville have been destroyed in the last month. There are also multiple other reports of vandalism, including car tires and above-ground pool liners being slashed.

On Thursday, about 100 residents went to a town hall meeting to hear presentations from Ottawa mayor Jim Watson, Stittsville councillor Shad Qadri, police and bylaw officers.

Police have increased their patrols of the area but residents are still concerned about the level of crime and where the vandals will strike next.

Officials are asking residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police.
