The best places to eat in Ottawa were celebrated at a gala at the Westin Hotel Monday night, where Joshua Bishop took top honours for his restaurant, the Whalesbone Oyster House.

His two locations on Bank Street and Kent Street focus on serving sustainable fish food.

The new restaurant of the year, ZenKitchen, serves food with all-natural ingredients -- no preservatives or chemicals.

Other awardees include:

  • Social for best restaurant design;
  • Walter Krepski for lifetime achievement;
  • The Crazy Horse as the CHEZ 106 people's choice for favourite nightline spot;
  • PLAY for CTV's people's choice favourite fine dining restaurant;
  • The Works for KISS FM's people's choice favourite casual dining restaurant.
