A pair of Ottawa residents is facing charges following a drug bust that uncovered a quantity of cocaine and thousands of ecstasy pills in Newfoundland.

Members of the RCMP made the arrests Thursday when police executed a search warrant in St. John's, N.L.

Police seized one kilogram of cocaine, 5,000 ecstasy pills, hash oil, cash and drug paraphernalia.

Melissa Rose Bishop, 32, and David Anthony Tobin, also 32, were arrested Thursday. They are both originally from Newfoundland but now live in Ottawa. They were back in Newfoundland for a visit, according to police.

The pair is charged with trafficking and possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Although two other men from St. John's were also arrested, they were not charged. Police say their investigation is ongoing.
