Ottawa Police no longer want to pay an officer ordered fired more than a year ago for stealing drugs from a police lock up.

Const. Kevin Hall lost an appeal to that ruling two months ago. He has now filed a second appeal that could take another two years.

Hall has continued to be paid his $71,000 salary.

In an unprecedented move, Ottawa Police want the first appeal upheld so they can immediately stop paying his salary and benefits pending his latest appeal.

The Police Services Act currently prevents officers from being suspended without pay.
