OTTAWA -  The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit has laid a number of charges in relation to a series of 2014 bank robberies.

In addition to the robberies listed in the initial release, charges have also been laid in connection to a bank robbery that occurred on January 13, 2014. On that date, at approximately 4:45 pm, a lone male entered a bank situated along the 2400 block of Bank Street. The suspect passed a note making a demand for money. The suspect fled the premises empty-handed. There were no injuries.

George Morris, age 37 of Ottawa, is charged with the following offences:

  • Nine (9) counts of robbery
  • Five (5) counts of wearing a disguise
  • Four (4) counts of using a firearm in the commission of an offence
  • Five (5) counts of pointing a firearm
  • Four (4) counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace
  • Four (4) counts of possession of a firearm or weapon contrary to a prohibition order

Mr. Morris was already in custody. He will appear in court on April 24, 2014.
