Ottawa Police Guns and Gangs unit is investigating an overnight shooting in the Byward market area.

Police say they received a call at about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday after reports of shots being fired in the area of 171 George St, which is also the Salvation Army Booth Centre.

Police say when they arrived on scene they found a male who suffered a gunshot wound to each of his legs. The man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The shooting victim is not cooperating with police.
