Charges have been laid in relation to a suspect going one-for-three in robbery attempts on Sunday in downtown Ottawa.

Police said 49-year-old Michael Bigelow of Ottawa is facing three charges of attempted robbery, one count of robbery and one count of wearing a disguise.

Police said on July 10 the suspect went into a retail business in the Byward Market and demanded cash around 8:50 p.m., but fled without any.

That same suspect went into a business on Sparks Street a short time later and again failed in his demand for cash.

Around 9:50 p.m., the suspect entered a business in the 500 block of Bank Street and was able to make off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Bigelow appeared in court Friday, according to police.

Anyone with information on this (or any) robbery is asked to call the Ottawa police robbery unit at 613-236-1222 extension 5116 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477.
