The founder of one of Ottawa's biggest mosques died suddenly while taking part in the hajj pilgrimage to Mecca.
Sheik Mohamed Rashad collapsed as he was climbing Mount Arafat on Thursday.
He's been the imam at the Assalam Mosque on St. Laurent Boulevard since 2002.
He's the spiritual leader for thousands of Muslims in Ottawa's Somali community.
