The Upper Ottawa Valley crime unit is investigating after officers found a dead person when they stopped a speeding vehicle in Petawawa Thursday night.
Police say they were on a routine patrol when they saw the vehicle speeding westbound on Petawawa Boulevard at about 10:15 p.m.
When police tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver failed to stop.
Police say the driver later pulled into Petawawa Plaza and asked officers to help the passenger, who was dead.
An autopsy has been scheduled. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
