One person is dead after a fatal crash on Highway 7 Monday afternoon.
OPP were called to the crash just before 4:30 pm near Silver Lake Provincial Park. Police say two vehicles were involved. The driver of one of the cars was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was taken to hospital in Kingston with serious injuries.
A 12-kilometre stretch of the highway was closed in both directions from Zealand Road near Sharbot Lake all the way to Maberly Road. The road was closed until very early Tuesday morning.
The Technical Traffic Collison unit is investigating the crash.
The highway is generally busy on long weekend Mondays; it's the route many cottagers take to return to Ottawa.
